Conference closing remarks: 'Global Challenges and the International Response: What role for the Commonwealth?' Stuart Mole picture

The Commonwealth Round Table held a conference on ‘Global Challenges and the International Response: What role for the Commonwealth?’  on 18-19 January, 2023.

The conference is part of a tradition of discussions held to discuss the state of the Commonwealth ahead of and after Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (CHOGMs).

Session one: ‘Multilateralism and soft power in an age of nationalism, conflict and division’
Session two: ‘Climate change, small states, inequality and development’
Session three: ‘Upholding human rights, press freedom and democracy: Can the Commonwealth make a difference?’
Session four: ‘After Kigali: The Commonwealth’s future challenges’

Dr Stuart Mole, the Chair of the Round Table from 2011 to 2017 and current chair of the Commonwealth Association, delivered the closing remarks.
