Oren Gruenbaum

Oren has been editor of the Commonwealth Update and a member of the editorial board of The Round Table since 2008. An editor and writer for more than two decades, he has been at the Guardian since 2004. Previously, he spent three years working at the Independent and before that freelanced on several Fleet Street titles.

He cut his journalistic teeth over three years in Beirut, helping set up a daily newspaper before moving to Lebanon’s long-established Daily Star.

He studied newspaper journalism at Cardiff University, Asian and African history at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and politics and modern history at Manchester University. He also taught history for three years in a Zimbabwean township.
