Tim Hitchens, the Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Summit 2018, took part in the conference The UK, the Commonwealth and CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government) 2018, which took place in central London on 19-20 October.

The conference had been organised by The Round Table: the Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs, together with the Royal Over-Seas League, the Commonwealth Association and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (International).

Commonwealth Summit CEO, Tim Hitchens, took part in panel two – a discussion on “The road to the 2018 Summit: the UK’s window on the Commonwealth”. His presentation included an outline of plans for the Summit.

Presentation headlines:

  • The Summit theme will be ‘Towards a Common Future’.
  • The Summit will take place from 16-21 April. It will open with three days of parallel Forums on Business, Women, People and Youth, including a cross-forum day.
  • The Summit venues will be Lancaster House, Marlborough House, Buckingham Palace and Windsor Palace.
  • The build-up to the Summit will include Commonwealth Day activities.
